synopsis
1946, McAllen, TX - a small town situated on the Texas-Mexico border. A 27 year-old entrepreneur named Andrew Paris began a small business importing and manufacturing candy.
One day, while walking down the street, Paris came across a group of boys fighting. Upon breaking up the fight, he was surprised to discover the argument was over a piece of bubblegum—an expensive commodity at that time. Recognizing an opportunity, Paris came up with the idea to mass and flood the market with 5000 tons of bubblegum.
Paris Bubblegum, which sold for only 1 penny a piece, became an overnight, worldwide sensation and made Andy Paris a household name.
Not only did Paris make bubblegum available to kids everywhere, he also launched one of the biggest trends ever–the art of blowing bubbles.
Blessed with charm and movie star looks, Andy Paris became one of the most interviewed and photographed men of the late 40s and a hero to children around the world.
